Milicz. To the Rhythm of Water

Nine hundred years of history, nearly three hundred fishponds, cranes, white-tailed eagles and cycle paths along an old narrow-gauge railway — in a short story with rustling trees and birdsong in the background. Headphones recommended.

Leave the signal at home

By the ponds and on the river, reception can be patchy. Download a route before you set off — the map, descriptions of places within a kilometre and the audio recordings will all work without internet.

FAQ

Good to know

Does the app cost anything?

No. Milicz is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Routes, the map, navigation, audio stories and the bin collection schedule all work without an account. You only need one (email, Google or Apple) for clubs, event sign-ups, chat and saving your own routes.

Where do the walking routes come from?

They are the waymarked hiking trails and nature paths of the Barycz Valley Landscape Park. The routes come from trail maps (OpenStreetMap) and the Park’s own path maps, and the descriptions from materials published by the Park, the Milicz municipality and PTTK (the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society). In the “Stawy Milickie” (Milicz Ponds) nature reserve, please stay on the trail: away from it, walking on the dykes requires a permit.

A place is missing — how do I suggest it?

Mark it on the map and add photos and a description on the Suggest a place page (PL) or in the app (Map → “Suggest a place”). We’ll review your suggestion and add it to the guide. Restaurants and places to stay can also sign up themselves using the business form (PL).

Does the app work without internet?

Yes, as long as you download the route beforehand. We save the map, descriptions of nearby places and the audio recordings, so navigation and stories work with no signal.

What happens to my location?

Your location is used only on your phone — for navigation and nearby stories — and is never sent to our server. We don’t use ads or tracking tools. Details in our privacy policy (PL).

Which municipalities does the bin collection schedule cover?

To start with: Milicz, Żmigród and Cieszków. We update the schedules every year based on data from the municipalities.

Which languages is the app available in?

Polish, English and German — the language follows your phone settings and can be changed in the app.
