About

The “Bronisław” windmill is a wooden post mill standing on a rise by the main road in Duchowo, a few kilometres from Milicz. The municipality and local sources date it to 1671 and describe it as the last mill of its kind in northern Lower Silesia; Poland's National Heritage Board, however, dates it to the first half of the 19th century (first mentioned in 1847). It is named after its first post-war miller, who was resettled here from what is now Ukraine.

The mill has a timber frame clad with boards and a shingle roof, four sails and surviving parts of its machinery; millstones are displayed in front. It was thoroughly restored in the early 2010s. Next to it, local residents built the half-timbered Miller's Cottage with a bread oven and a small museum of old household and farming tools.

You can see the windmill from outside all year round. According to Milicz municipality, guided visits inside take place seasonally, from May to August on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (as of Oct 2026) – confirm the times with the Milicz Cultural Centre. The site lies on the cycle routes around Milicz.
